VPS has a complete GLP histology laboratory that is capable of processing all types of animal tissues and medical devices. Our Director of Laboratory Operations has over 20 years of experience in managing a GLP-compliant histology laboratory. Our laboratory staff includes a manager, 6 senior histologists with over 50 years of combined experience, and 9 histology technicians.
For routine paraffin histology, tissue cassettes and slides are auto-labeled by machine in order to provide consistent labeling without loss of information over time. Autostainers are used for H&E staining to provide consistent staining among all slides and tissues, and a variety of special stains are offered: eg, Masson’s Trichrome, Safranin-O Fast Green, Toluidine Blue, Gram stain, etc. In addition to routine H&E histology, we specialize in providing non-standard paraffin histology support for decalcified and/or oversized tissues, medical device studies, and projects that are considered too difficult for most paraffin laboratories. |
