One of the unique and specialized services that VPS offers is GLP-compliant plastics histology using the Exakt System.
VPS is equipped with 2 complete Exakt Systems that allow us to prepare ground sections of tissues that cannot be handled using conventional histology methods (ie, paraffin). By infiltrating and embedding the specimens in a special plastic resin (Technovit 7200), we are able to section and grind tissues that contain metal (eg, titanium, Nitinol, etc.), ceramics, bone, and bone fillers. The Exakt System also allows us to embed oversized specimens that cannot be handled by conventional methods.
